Bushmaster M17

One of the awesomest assault rifles ever! It takes the .223 cartridge and it wieghs 3.72 kg. with a length of 760 mm. It accepts Ar-15 magazines. It is adopted from the Australian STEYR AUG. This was bushmasters best selling rifles at one point. It is gas powered and has an AR-18 style bolt. It is a very good home defense rifle and it is compact.

Colt Commando

The colt commando is the carbine version of the infamous M16. It's length is 760mm. Long, weighing 2.44 kilograms. It will take any other M16 magazine of the caliber .223 Remington. The only problem about this carbine was that it was so loud that it will be louder than the soldier, making it difficult to communicate in a combat situation. The muzzle flash was also a dead give away to your position, which made this a bad weapon for sniping (who would). These are though very reliable in tough combat situations because they are small and compact and also have a really good firing rate, I'd say even better than the AK 47. The Special Forces used these weapons in the Vietnam War and still use them now. These are still issued today and should be until they find a way to make it better.

Armalite-15(M-16)

The AR-10, the father of the AR-15, was created and designed by Eugene Stoner. It was originally created in the late 1950's and soon developed into a new type of assault rifle. In 1957, the AR-10 lost to the T-44, also known as the M-14, in military drills. The AR-10 did go into mass production in 1960 and was soon modified enough to be more reliable and dependable as the M-16A2 assault rifle (which it was after modifications). Soon, the M-16 was the main military issued assault rifle of the U.S. Military during the '60's. The M16A1 was the most common, having a weight of 2.89 kg. and the length of 986 mm. It was a very wide ranged assault rifle having a switch to change from, safety, automatic, and semi-auto. While automatic, it has a firing rate of 750 rpm.

It took a .223 Remington cartridge in a most common twenty round box clip. Colt developed the U.S. assault rifle with the best military records and history. There has been no batter assault rifle than the AR-15 until it's posterity today which is the M4, which is currently used in our Military today. If you play Call Of Duty, you might notice that the M16's have 30 round clips; well, that is bull crap, during the Vietnam War, these assault rifles used 20 round box clips. It wasn't until 1970 when the Military began to use 30 round box clips. These assault rifles are easy for attachments and are fairly easy and simple to modify. The AR 15 is one of the greatest assault rifles in history. Please agree with me you filthy Russian Katasznikowa(AK) 47 lovers!

M14

As a .308 caliber rifle, it is semi-automatic. No, I didn't get this off of Call Of Duty. This supreme rifle is the advancement of the M1 Garand (seen in previous posts). This rifle was used from 1957 to the early '70's. It has a firing rate of 750 rpm., which is pretty good for a semi-automatic rifle. It is also light, weighing 5 kg. with a length of 1120 mm. It actually takes the same rounds and box magazines from the Browning Automatic Rifle (shown in previous post). It is a fairly reliable weapon and that would be my pick if I were to chose a semi-automatic rifle.

M1918A2 Browning Automatic Rifle

One of the most famous assault rifles in the history of the U.S. Military. Because it's automatic, it's considered as a machine gun; well, it is, but it's main purpose was to be a rifle. It was a heavy "automatic rifle," but it had a good firing rate of 650 rpm. It did have bad kick to it. It was a long weapon spanning to 1214mm. long, weighing up to 9 kg. without it's twenty round box magazine. It took a 30-06 cartridge which made it a heavy beast. The weapon was used mainly for suppressing for it blew allot of smoke. It was issued in 1939 until the pre-Vietnam War era.

M1917 Enfield

You are probably thinking, The Enfield is British! Well, the United States Military made their own version of the Enfield rifle known by most as the M1917 Enfield sniper rifle. The only reason why anybody would know about this rifle is because this is the rifle that Medal Of Honor Recipient Sergeant Alvin York used to snipe 28 Germans leading to the surrender of 132 other German soldiers during the Great War. The rifle is a 30-06 bolt action and weighs 4.08 kg. with a length of 1175mm.

Although it was a reliable rifle, the U.S. Military decided to stick with the M1903 Springfield rifle. 1917 was the only year this weapon was issued in the military.

M1A1 Carbine

The M1A1 Carbine is a light compact rifle used in the United States Military from 1938 until after the Korean war. It is a light compact rifle for it has a length of 904 mm. and it weighs 2.36 kg. empty. It takes a small 7.62x33mm. cartridge. Of coarse it could be modified to different cartridges but it was originally manufactured with this cartridge. It is a really interesting rifle because it was originally built to replace handguns until folding and wooden stocks were attached to these "pea shooters." They were light and easy to carry, but the problem was that it was a small weapon and it didn't inflict heavy damage on human opposition. "I then saw a German running helmet-less through a trench and I could see his head above the snow. I aimed down my peep-sights, fired, and hit him near the fore-head. A minute later, I saw the same man running into the woods. Although he was cut down, I now have seen the unreliability of this rifle." This was an account taken by a soldier who fought in the Battle of The Bulge. The story reflects on the unreliability of this classic weapon.
